Best wishes Frank
All at Slaney CC will want to send best wishes for a speedy recovery to Frank Dunne who was injured in an accident yesterday. Frank is one of the good guys of cycling in County Wexford and we hope that he will be back on the bike come the Spring time.
Weekend training & touring spins
Two spins to choose from on Saturdays. Bill Jordan leads a A4/A3/Juniors training group leaving Donohoes Garage at 10am sharp for a steady 2 – 2.5 hours. Murry McDonalds spins continue at 9.30am from the Aldi carpark for a longer 90-110km with a possible coffee stop depending on weather conditions.
Sunday tour continue from the Duffry Gate at 10am every Sunday. All welcome.
Training Group
Week one of our racing section spins took place last Saturday and although the numbers were down due to a combination of injury, illness and work, eight riders left enniscorthy at 10am sharp. It was great to see all the lads dressed in Slaney gear and wearing helmets as we headed south into a very strong headwind to Ashfield cross and back and although the wind battered us all day we escaped the rain.
From a training point of view it was a great success with all the lads chatting and getting to know one another as well as turning the pedals. Same place and time next week when we hope the injury list won’t be as long. Thanks to Bernie for doing support car today, which I was very glad of when I had a flat at Ferrycarrig!
Could anyone interested in the ski trip for an afternoon at xmas please have a €10 deposit next week.
Bike fitting
Shane Kelly mentioned that Luke Maguire (Wexford Wheelers) has arranged a bike fitting session on Saturday. There are a few places left if anyone is interested.
Bike fitting going ahead this Saturday 8th November with Aidan Hammond at Wexford Boat and Tennis Club. Still a couple of places left. Cost 70 euro. Anyone interested contact Luke on 087 6252078
Christmas is coming….
We have booked a table for Saturday 6th December at the new Holy Grail restaurant in Enniscorthy for our annual Christmas do. Everyone and their partners are very welcome. A couple of menu options available ranging from €17.95 to €24.95. Have been in there a few times now and the food is excellent. So far we have about 20 interested in going so it should be good craic. To firm up numbers if anyone is interested could the let Bill, Mick, Mylie or myself know so we can reserve a bigger table if needed. The more the merrier
AGM
Its almost AGM time again so we’ll have a venue and date booked later this month. In the meantime if members have any particular items they want placed on the agenda could they email Mick or myself. Mick has spent the last 3 years as chairman and I have been secretary since Sean Kelly was an U16 so we are taking a well earned break next year so please think about offering you services. The club needs members to come forward and help drive the club ahead in the years to come.
