Some great results for Slaney CC from Roundwood on Saturday. In the U14 race Ryan Byrne won in a really tough sprint finish against Joshua Francis from Longford. Adam Thatcher was unfortunate to fall after a touch of wheels earlier in the race but managed to recover and take 5th place. Fionn Jordan was down the field having been sent the wrong way by a marshall at a turn and losing touch wiith the group. Adam & Ryan have had a tremendous season so far winning or placing in every open race they’ve competed in! Darragh Jennings, probably the most improved rider in the club this year, continued his great form and took 3rd place in the U12 race with Mark Thatcher (just 10years old!) placed 5th. Also good results for SERC’s Elliot & Reece Young, Stephen Bracken & Slipstreams Kyle Murphy.
Paul Bolger was away in a 6 man break in the A4 race for nearly 50kms. The group worked hard together maintaining a 1 to 1.5 minute gap over the bunch. At the finish Paul took a great 2nd place, and with it, won an upgrade to A3! Paul has returned to great form after losing so much of last season with his injured wrist and will be a great addition to the A3 team. Tonto Brady, Bill Jordan & Andrew Dowse finished in the main field. Alan Galavan was best finisher in 8th place in the A2/A3 race, Mick McLean was next wth Dan Szczech and Murt Doyle in main bunch. Great result for Brian Cullen from Barrow taking 2nd.
