Well done to the small but determined crew who set sail on the tour this morning in gale force winds. Tour leader Paul Nolan tried his best to keep the riders sheltered by heading south through Ballymurn and Castlebridge and trying to stay by the high hedges. At least the day stayed dry and mild. Hopefully next weekend will be better and we have a bigger group out.
Underage update from Bill Jordan: fionn was the only slaney u/a rider today at the pat and monie nolan race in balscadden. the u16 race was 4 laps of a 5 mile circuit with a few climbs and lots of wind. the racing was fast from the very start which broke up the race on the very first lap. fionn didn’t manage to get off the front but rode well in the following bunch and attacked off the front before the final climb to the finish and held it on the climb to take 7th place, just outside the prizes. having had two dnfs in the last two weeks this was a great result for him and gives his confidence a boost heading in to the much more difficult ras na nog next week.
