Racing 795 Duathlon: PJ Dunne has been in touch to give us some details – We’re holding our club duathlon again this year, it will be on Sunday 19th February at 10 am and in Kildavin Gaa complex. The route is the same as last year with a gentle 3km run warm up followed by a 22k cycle and the 3km run again. Like last year with your involvement we are hoping to make it an inter club race. Cost will be kept low at just €5( to cover Tea/coffee and buns biscuits etc and
hopefully hot showers) and used as a training/fun event ( no TI sanction etc). It will be run as a training spin with the appropriate sign on sheets for insurance reasons.
Racing 795 being the hosts will put up 3 marshalls/time keepers and Wexford Tri club and Carlow tri club putting up one each. Usual rules of the road apply. Top 5 from each club will have there positions added together and the club with the lowest total wins the bragging rights! Can Carlow take the win again this year or have wex tri something up there sleeves, what about home advantage???? Like last year we may even have a few spot prizes Great numbers last year and it would be great to have you all and more back again. -

Well done to Murry, Willie & Shane who I think were the only Slaney participants at the Barrow Wheelers 100km today in very wet conditions. Shame about the weather on such a great annual season opener.

Under age training continued at two venues this weekend. The younger crew met again at Donohoes where the freezing cold weather didn’t put anyone off. Charlie & Ruari are now on their two club racing bikes and getting used to the new positions. Conor, Nicholas, Aine, Finn and Riley were all flying as we tackled a few skills and then some short time trials & pursuits to keep warm. Don’t know what batteries Riley runs on but I could do with some of his energy!

Six hardy young men turned out for Slaneys underage training session this morning at Davidstown. This week the lads worked on their time trialing and with the help of Mick Byrne and David Dempsey all went very well with some good times being posted already. We will have another tt session in four weeks so if Mick and David are available again that would be great lads.No Thatchers this week due to family commitments but we hope to have them back next week when the lads will tackle some climbing practice and general riding. To allow us to do this more easily we will be meeting at Donohoes garage instead of Davidstown.Slaney underage would like to congratulate Michael O’Loughlin from Carrick Wheelers on his recent selection for leading young riders in europe team http://www.stickybottle.com/latest-news/irelands-michael-oloughlin-selected-for-leading-young-riders-in-europe-team/ This is fantastic for the young man and we hope he does well. With Adam now on the talent team and the rest of our lads progressing well there is no reason why we won’t have plenty of reasons to congratulate our young men in the coming months and years as well, watch this space!! (Thanks to Bill for the report)
