Weekend Review

Leinster Championships: Well done to Frank O’Leary who continued his fine vane of form to take a silver medal in the A2 category. Denis McCarthy (Slipstream) won the A3 category with Anthony Doyle second  while in the A4 Dave Allen (Wexford Wheelers) took silver in another good weekend for Wexford Cycling. Slaney’s father and son duo of Stephen and Neil Kelly both finished in 5th place in the A4 and U/14 category.

Seen as they haven’t Frank’s picture on Irish Cycling .Com heres the proof!

Rás na mBán: Rita Boyle had a fantastic stage race in Kerry until about 6kms to go. Having performed well in stages 1-3 she was in 10th place overall, against a quality international field, and in 2nd position in the Irish county rankings when a crash put paid to her race and her season. Broken collerbones seem to be an essential part of top class cyclists and we know Rita will be back stronger then ever next year.

Wexford Wheelers Prizegiving: Thanks to David Maguire and all at Wexford Wheelers for their generous hospitality at the Bike Shop league prize giving last Friday. The races proved very exciting this year and drew big numbers of riders to Camross (and theres an U10 in my house very happy with his trophy!)
