Adam Thatcher continues to pile up the wins this season. Last weekend he did a double with a win on Saturday and Sunday in the under age races at Stamullen, Co Meath. This weekend sees a long trek to Drogheda for Rás na Nóg 2 day youth races.
Alex Williams scored a well deserved points finish in last weekends A1/A2 race in Carrick. Alex finished 8th in the race which also featured Murt and Alan while Mick McLean was in the A4. Its sometimes forgotten just how tough these A1/A2 races are with the best riders in Ireland, many fulltime or semi pro riders, taking part. The races are long, hard and fast, and the attacks come early and often until the winning selection is made. Its great to see our lads and also Wexford Wheelers Martin Gill & David Walsh (and now Conchubhar O Crualaoich!) racing at such a high level and getting results. Latest Rankings
Between racing and touring we must have had 25 riders out last weekend. The club had over a dozen riders at the SERC 3 Peaks Challenge on Sunday. By all accounts the event was a great success. Thanks to James Forde for sending me some pictures but busy this week and haven’t had a chance to upload them. There are loads of photos on this link http://www.southeastroadclub.com/photos/ While most were in Arklow half a dozen left the Duffry on tour (Welcome Pauline!), while Team Dempsey were obviously on call this weekend as they were busy training on the old Dublin road circuit – close enough to the fire station in case the shout came!
Some of the kids joined me on Saturday morning for a spin – Conor, Ryan Byrne, Mikey Hynes, Fionn and Ann Jordan and Graham and Chris Hartnett. Good fun with Ryan and Fionn not giving an aul lad a chance in the sprints! We’ll try and do the spins regularily but I’m not around this Saturday so if anyone else wants to look after the youngsters use the forum.
I’m working on a calendar of local racing for the summer which I’ll put up here as a download. I have dates for the Slipstream and SERC summer leagues and the Slaney Novice league.
