A good crew of Slaney members took part in Saturdays Tracie Lawlor spin. The weather was dire for the 24 hours beforehand but thankfully cleared by the start of the event at the Riverbank Hotel. With a lot of grit on the roads Patrick Dobbs was one to puncture whle John Busher was unlucky to break a spoke before Ferns and then punctured after Sliabh Bhuí but continued the event. There was one faller on the descent but again he managed to get up and continue the event. (I promised not to mention Paul Bolger’s rookie mistake but lets just say it would have been hard to complete the event on a unicycle!). The pace was relativly gentle for the first 30kms but this was only a warm up and the HRMs were buzzing by the time was main climb arrived and for the fast run back to Wexford. All in all a very enjoyable event and we hope a good fundraiser for the Tracie Lawlor Trust. If you were put off by the weather but would still like to make a contribution details are on their website.
Racing:
No reports from the racing side but well done to Frank O’Leary who took part in the Shay Elliott and the other Slaney riders who went to Clonmel. There are some very good pictures of the event at this SITE . Thanks to Barry Meehan and his twitter feed @worldwidecycles for the heads up on the attached videos!
