Saturday ride: Leaving Aldi at 9.30am. Strong SW wind and some rain forecast so heading out to Oulart, Castlebridge, Wexford, Drinagh, Carrigbyrne, Adamstown and home with a tailwind. Plenty of opt out routes if the weather is too bad. Just short of 90km.
Sunday tour: The weather looks very uncertain for Sunday at present so we’ll wait until Sunday morning and make a decision on route and distance based on who’s out and wind direction etc. Tour leaves at 10am. Keep an eye here for any updates.
Sunday racing: Racing moves to Dungarvan on Sunday. Big numbers are expected and the race fields are to be capped so get signed on early if you intend riding. Sign on opens at 9, racing at 12. For the A3s this will be their last outing before the Gorey 3 Day over Easter. Best of luck to anyone racing this weekend.
Report from Bill : the racing crew headed for dungarvan today. 3 lined out in the a4 race, john, billy and paul. paul did a great job as road captain and did a fantastic job to set john and billy up well for the last climb. unfortunately the legs gave out brfore the line arrived but it was great to see the lads working well as a team and when the rest of our a4 riders return it can only bode well for the future. in the a3 race fionn and ryan lined up hoping to put the finishing touches to the legs before the gorey 3day next weekend but things didn’t go according to plan. ryan rode well and is showing signs of improvement but the gale force wind took its toll today and he had to pull up with a lap to go. fionn felt fine on the way down and during the the warm up and started the race in good spirits. things went according to plan for the first 20 miles or so but getting towards the top of the climb his legs decided enough of this and he decided to pull out and save himself for next weekend. he’s here coughing as we speak so fingers crossed that he isn’t getting the dreaded chest infection!!!
the gorey 3day next weekend is a three day stage race which is the biggest race of its kind in the country and slaney will field an all junior team of ryan 17y, reece 16y and the baby of the three fionn also 16y. for the lads to be at the standard just to think of starting the race is great and fingers crossed we can have all 3lads at the finish in blessington on monday evening.
