Best of luck to the Slaney teams in the 2 day stage races this weekend. Adam Thatcher, Darragh Jennings, Fionn Jordan and Ryan Byrne are down to compete in the SERC/ Brennans Hotels Youth 2 day in Arklow on Saturday & Sunday. First up is a TT on Sat morning followed by a criterium in the afternoon and a road race on Sunday.
The seniors head to Westmeath for the Mullingar 2 Day. Taking part are A1/2: Frank Dunne, Davy Walsh, Alan Galavan; A3: Mike McLean, Dan Szczech, Shane Kelly and A4: Stephen Kelly
Former Slaney member Bryan Hayden was on to remind me the Mark Hayden Memorial Road Race takes place on Sunday 17th July in Kildavin. The race takes in a route in the same area as last weeks Eddie Tobin Races so good roads and hard racing is promised.
Training: We’re trying to get a regular Thursday evening training spin off the ground if members are interested. . Plan is to meet at the Duffry at 7pm with a ride south and back on the N11. Probably a pacy enough ride with the option to cross the road and be picked up on the way back if the pace is too high. Not sure if anyone was out tonight. Maybe use the forum to see does this spin/time /day suit people or would people just prefer do their own thing?
Beginners: It was also suggested that a slower or beginners spin meet at the same time with a route down to Oylegate or Kyle Cross and back to start with and then extend it or up the pace as fitness grows. Alan Hartnett is trying to drum up a few pals for this spin if anyone else is interested.
