Upcoming Events

The Hope & Dreams 10km run is on tomorrow. Last year Slaney provided some on bike marshals to assist in the events safety. It was a bit of craic for a good cause last year and Mick Byrne is looking for volunteers for tomorrow if you are free.

Another 4th place for Davy Walsh in the A1 Lucan GP this morning. Frank Dunne finished in the same group just behind. Shane Kelly finished in the front group but outside the top 8 in the A3 race. Didn’t spot any of our A4s in the pictures. Some photos here.

Saturday training spin: Leaving ALDI at 9.30am. Same route as last week – Castlebridge, Coast road to Courtown, and home through Gorey. Forecast looks ok with an easterly wind, pleanty of bailout options if weather worsens.

Sunday tour: Leaving the Duffry Gate at 10.00am

Gorey 3 Day team: Slaney team is Conchubhar O’Crualaoich, Shane Kelly, Patrick Dobbs and Corky O’Connell. I’m available Saturday and probably Sunday for transport but won’t be around on Monday. Suggest we follow the usual plan and meet at the Amber Springs on the Saturday morning and travel from there.

Rás Mumhan: Davy Walsh is the sole Slaney rider in Kerry this Easter. Frank Dunne and Terry Dempsey are travelling down to provide support and transport for Davy. With neither Franks van or Terry’s jeep allowed in the peolton we’re looking for a loan car if anyone can help.

Rás na nÓg: The youth 2 day takes place in Drogheda on April 20th and 21st. I have entry forms for Slaney, more details available here www.droghedawheelers.ie and Ger Campbell has limited B&B available at €25

The Irish Spring Classic aka the Des Hanlon Memorial takes place this Sunday March 21st. Probably the toughest race of the season (alongside the Shay Elliott) if the weather forecast is right it could also be a snowy Sunday on top of The Butts! Full race details are available here http://www.carlowcycling.ie/#/the-des-hanlon-mem-classic/4561478102

  • NOTE –  the sign on venue is changed from previous years. Its now at the Craiguecullen GAA club on Sleaty road on the Portlaois side of Carlow. Probably best to go around the ring road from where it will be sign posted.
  • I see this is another €15 sign on too……. back to €10 now

Lucan Grand Prix Saturday March 23rd – I’m sure Nichola thinks David Dempsey has a fine arse but how it ended up on the poster of the Lucan GP defeats me! Must be running up all those fire brigade ladders……
