Group Training Spin: From the Directeur Sportif – “See you all on Sat morning at 9am. We roll out at 9 30 sharp. Showers available and lunch if required in hotel. Same format as last day with Frank Dunne in charge. Pace will be controlled with the emphasis on getting in good base kms and building team spirit. We’ll try and get in some race drills depending on weather conditions. Remember, there is no such thing as bad weather just bad/unsuitable clothing.”
Some of the riders before todays training spin
“110 kms in a little over 3 hrs. Well done everybody and thanks to ‘The Boss’ for keeping a good tempo and control of such a large group. I still believe you can’t beat a good hard training ride with a group as it replicates racing. Turbos are great but you don’t get that bike control, head wind, pothole/spit dodging, pissin rain effect. Not to mention up and over at pace and being half wheele…d when you’re f…ed!! Bring more food lads, we need to eat more and at regular intervals. it’s too late when you’re hungry, you’ve already bonked at that stage. Never wait till thirsty before reaching for the bottle and emptying half, by then you’re dehydrated. Sip regularly, even in cold weather you sweat but it evaporates quickly.” (Paul Bolger has uploaded garmin details for the ride to the Slaney facebook page)
Christmas get together at The Alamo December 2nd Don’t forget all are welcome to the Christmas get together for either a meal or a few drinks afterwards
Gear Sizes: As you know we’ve placed a large order of new gear which we will have back in plenty of time for the new season. Mick Howe has received a selection of samples for sizing purposes. The new gear seems to be a bit slimmer fitting so if anyone has ordered specific sizes and wants to see what the fit is like Mick will have the gear available after the training ride at The Riverside.
SERC Hamper Race: From Ronan Ó Riain – The South East Road club in association with the Mc Cabe Family will host our annual Hamper race on 11/12/2011.
