Trip to France, Belgium & the Tour of Flanders Sportive

Anyone interested in a great trip to northern France & Belgium?

Flanders

Stephen Kelly has organised a couple of trips to this area in the last few years. Much less travelling and much less hassle then a trip to the south of France to do the Marmotte or to ride in the mountains.

The plan is for a group to sail from Rosslare on Monday 30th March staying near the channel tunnel. Then tunnel to Calais on Tuesday morning. Three days watching the 3 days de Panne professional cycling race and sight seeing around the historic WW1 battlefields of Ypres and Passchendale or the WW2 landing beaches and do a bit of cycling.

Then staying in Ghent for three days doing the Tour of Flanders sportive on Saturday and watching the professionals in the Ronde van Vlaanderen on Sunday. Channel tunnel early Monday morning and back to Pembroke for the 14.45pm sailing.

No pressure on anyone to cycle any more than they want to, take a day of two to enjoy the scenery or the beer and all within 100kms of Calais.  Stephen has worked out costs and his notes as  below!

1. accommodation about €55 per night b&b in hotel. twin rooms
2. ferry and tunnel is about €650 divided  by 3 or 4 people
3. will be good trip we have’nt failed yet
4. BEER AND FAGS EXTRA IM NOT SHARING

Great trip if anyone is interested in seeing pro cyclists race the greatest classic of them all, take in some history and ride your bike. Contact Stephen on 085 1704335 for more detail.
