UPDATE: With the freezing fog on Sunday morning we only had a small turnout on the tour but we managed to collect €165 on the morning. Many thanks to all who contributed. If you weren’t there you missed Mylie Kavanagh, Liam Ruth and John Busher performing a sponsored “Pileup for Haiti” on the N11 and if you would like to sponsor them or make a donation please contact Paul Nolan who organised the collection.
We’re going to have a collection before the tour on Sunday morning to assist the victims of the terrible earthquake in Haiti. Its completely voluntary as many people may have already made a donation to the many agencies working there. Give as little or as much as you like with one proviso – it must be paper money – Paul Nolan will be collecting and he’s not riding for 2 hours with €100 of coin in his jersey pocket! When we have the sum added up we’ll talk nicely to the new treasurer and see about the club throwing in a few euro as well. So stick as least a fiver in your pocket before leaving the house on Sunday morning.
This is only a small token from Slaney CC. We’ll probably spend the whole spin giving out about potholes in our roads while the people of Haiti have lost their homes, their livelihoods and, in many cases, their lives.
