A Slaney CC composite team made up of Frank Dunne & Alan Galavan and Davy Walsh & Conchubhar O Crualaoich had a brilliant weekend at the Bog Week 2 day stage race in Connemara. Davy took 1st on stage 1 with Frank 3rd, Conchubhar 5th and Alan 8th with Davy taking the overall yellow jersey. Wexford Wheelers Martin Mizgajski won stage 3 with Davy 2nd and Frank 6th. Final Overall Davy 1st, Frank 3rd, Conchubhar 6th, Martin 7th and Alan 9th. Another good weekend for Wexford Cycling. Great result – well done lads!
An Post Rás: I was at the Rás in Dunboyne today to see the start and wish the best of luck to SERC’s Derek Webb who is managing the Comeragh team in this years race. Ken Murphy from the Bike shop is team mechanic for the week while Ciaran Power is masseur. The team pulled of a bit of a coup last week when, unfortunately, they lost a rider to illness but signed up David O’Loughlin as a guest replacement! Best of luck also to our own Paul Nolan in Neutral Service car 1 and to Enniscorthy man Anthony Doyle who returns to the Ras after a 10 year abscence. Unluckily his 1st day ended in hospital after a bad crash and I’m not sure if he can start tomorrow.
