Many thanks to Aidan Ryan for a great coaching day yesterday. Almost 30 riders met at the Riverside as the Rás training group were also meeting there. The large group cycled together as far as Gorey where the 16 man SCC coaching group continued onto the old N11 while the Rás group headed for Hollyfort, Tinahely and back through Carnew and Kiltealy. Aidan went through a series of 4 separate training drills on the road which should be worked into our training and formed part of his detailed presentation in the afternoon. The presentation was based on general best training practice for the season ahead, training loads, nutrition and recovery with more detailed training advice for those doing the Marmotte/Etape and The Gorey 3 Day. I’ll be getting a copy of the power point presentation which I’ll email to all participants. This was followed by a separate presentation and discussion for the Rás group with possibly the most detailed day by day training program I’ve ever seen!
Aidan obviously put in a huge amount of preparitry work before the day and was still answering queries when we broke up at about 5.15pm. Thanks are also due to Frank O’Leary and Pat Whitney who helped put the day together and the Riverside Park for the use of their facilities on a busy wedding day.
