SCC At The BCC

Since the first running of the Blackstairs Cycling Challenge, the weather gods didn’t look down too kindly on the event. All riders had to contend with strong winds, heavy rain and the occasional outburst of what some might describe as sunshine.

Despite these conditions, Michael Furlong, Liam Harmon, Gillian Power, Derek Doyle, Eddie Mulligan, Stephen Kelly, Peter Kirwan and Kevin Davitt decided it was worth the trip to Ballinkillen. All got around their chosen distances safely with the only incident of noteĀ  was Eddie Mulligan having a blown tyre just after Goresbridge. Receiving a lift to the foodstop in Borris and not turning off his Strava, Eddie collected a few dodgy looking KOM’s long the way. So every cloud has a silver lining.

The Blackstairs Cycling Challenge is well ran community event and without a doubt our members will return again next year.

Looking more like council workers than cyclists. Giving their advice on Eddie’s blown tyre.
