Great turnout for the Saturday Spin which was a recce for Phil’s 1 point 5 ride route. Some new faces from the racing section made the pace a little hotter than normal, particularly for such a hilly route
Those present were; Murry McDonald, Peter McGowan, Pat Whelan, Joe Fortune, John Busher, Billy Harris, Brian Maher, Phil Skelton, James & Fran Maddock, Mick Byrne, Larry McDonald and photographer Paul Bolger!
We left Aldi car park in Enniscorthy at 9.00am, headed to Ballycarney and Ferns and on towards Camolin. The climbing started with the left turn off the main road just before Camolin and and finished when we got home!!!
Sliabh Bui hasn’t got any easier and there were huge splits in the group before it was crossed!!!
There was also quite a gallop up the hill into Carnew with three of the group setting 1st, 2nd and 3rd fastest times on the Strava KOM!
Coffee was in Applegreen Bunclody and then we enjoyed the climb up Mount Leinster on the gentle slopes of the Corrabut Gap. Paul Bolger rushed up the climb just to capture the pain on the faces of the slower climbers as they crested the summit. Thanks Paul! (pics below)
It was a great spin at a good pace and a reminder to us as to just how hard the 1 point 5 route is.
