Race 1 Tuesday May 4th – Davidstown Circuit.: Sign on from 6.30pm 7.00pm sharp start Novice/ A4/Underage. Course is safe and pothole free however help required at Start/Finish and to marshall turn onto new road. If you are not racing please volunteer to help.
The novice races we ran at the end of last season proved enjoyable and were successful in getting new and non racing cyclists into competition. The races were good for giving riders an introduction to racing before going on to the more competitive SERC/Slipstream leagues. We plan on running another series of races starting earlier, on May 4th , this year. The plan is for a mixture of road races, TT and hill climb. The handicapped events are open to novice and A4 riders but all riders must have a Cycling Ireland licence to compete. A one day licence costing €10 will be available but the club competition licence which costs €55 will prove better value and will also save you money if you plan doing sportives during the year. We also plan to have an underage race on the same night. Underage licences are just €5. For obvious safety reasons the events won’t be held unless we have a sufficient number of marshalls so volunteers are required.
I’ve prepared a draft calendar of local events below which lists proposed dates for our novice races, the Slipstream and SERC leagues and local sportive events on in the summer. If I have made any errors/ event clashes or clubs want me to add on other events email me details at firstname.lastname@example.org . I’ll also open a thread on the forum if anyone has comments. May and June seem the busiest part of the year but I’m sure we’ll slot in more events later if the numbers riding are there.
