CI President Rory Wyley, Town Council Chairman Pat Cody, Club Chairman Mick Howe and Club president Maire Ruth with organisers, councillors and youth riders

Many thanks to all who attended our launch of the National Youth Championships at the Presentation Centre on Wendesday evening. In particular thanks to Enniscorthy Town Council chairman Mr Pat Cody who welcomed another great cycling event to Enniscorthy and hoped it would inspire more young people on to their bikes. Cycling Ireland president Mr Rory Wyley recalled mixed memories of his last visit to Enniscorthy when the Rás ended with a sprint finish on the Fair Green but unfortunately he’d left his legs at the bend near the ’98 centre! He wished the event well and looks forward to being back in Enniscorthy in August and marshalling a bend somewhere on the course.

Honourary Membership:  The evening closed with club president being called on to award honourary membership of Slaney CC to two stalwarts of the club Sean Kavanagh and Pat Whitney. The award was in recognition of their outstanding contribution to Slaney over many years, their commitment to supporting members acheiving their goals and their long time involvement in competitive, leisure and youth cycling. No club can succeed without people like Sean and Pat who are always ready to give their time to ensure the smooth and safe running of events and we really appreciate them.

Finally thanks to the ever present ladies of the Mount Leinster Challenge catering crew for the great spread. Ye all deserve yellow jersey’s!
