Mount Leinster Challenge wrap up

Many thanks to all the participants in the MLC on Saturday who made it such an enjoyable day to be part of. Riders came from the tip of Antrim and the bottom of Kerry! We put a lot of effort into the day and its nice when the one thing we can’t organise – the weather – plays its part. We hope you finally had the wind on you backs on the way home to Enniscorthy. Well done to everyone who took part.

Photos: There are a mountain ((sorry!) of great photos taken by Sean Rowe on his and the Slaney facebook pages and retweeted on @liamruth. You can also see them at this link https://www.facebook.com/sean.rowe.545/media_set?set=a.10207099678434897.1073742147.1369415804&type=1&pnref=story    The mountain looked fantastic but the pictures don’t show the fierce wind and chill at the top.

Video: Many thanks to Andy Flood who got in touch today to share his video of the event taken from his on bike camera.

Two riders left their helmets behind which we have safe. One owner made contact this morning. If you are missing your helmet get in touch. We also recovered a bottle cage still in one piece. Again if you lost one get in touch.

Slaney would like to thank our planning crew, our go to the cash & carry and collection crew, our road marking crews on Friday night, our parking  and set up crew on Saturday morning, our sign on  & goodie bag crew, our marshaling crew, our Bellefield morning and afternoon welcome crew, our Kiltealy food stop crew, our take down & clean up crew and everyone who double and treble jobbed so they were in two or three different crews!

So many thanks to Paddy, Murry, Mick, Mylie, Liam, Don, Billy, Corky, John, Bill, Ann & Fionn, Ann, Margaret, Eibhleann & Liam, Sarah, Phil, Mary, Bernie & Claire, Betty & Ciaran, Sean, Jimmy, Caimin, Roisin & Conor, and Maire.

Thanks to the event sponsor ( and rider on the day) Richard Nolan of Nolan Transport, to Ger McVeigh and Bellefield GAA complex, to Paddy Redmond & the Enniscorthy Red Cross, to our drinks supplier Lucozade, to our bread supplier Terry Dempsey, our courier Kieran Fenlon, the Riverside Park hotel for tables and to anyone who helped in any way to make the event a success.

Finally the event could not work without the amazing, unseen work and untold hours that the women of the Kiltealy and Bellefield feed stops put in this year and every year. Simply speaking if we did not have them we would have no Mount Leinster Challenge.
