James Butler Memorial

Well done Davy Walsh & Adam Thatcher who took victory in todays end of season event, the James Butler Memorial TT . The standard of time trialling is going from strength to strength in the county with some super times again today. Four senior riders broke 10 minutes with one at 10.02. The under 14 top two would have taken 7th & 9th in the adult section. (And the under 14s are doing it on 49×16 max gears !!)  James Butler TT 2011 Results

While some riders travelled from Newbridge & Kilkenny to take part, the weekend weather seemed to put some local riders off from competing which was disappointing. In the end we had 9 youth riders and 11 senior riders take part. Jude Roche and the Newbridge crew have become regulars at our youth events and they are holding some underage MTB races on the Curragh over the off season and we’ll have info here closer to the events. Good also to see Darryl Flynn on his annual visit to Enniscorthy for the James Butler. We want to see more of you next season Darryl!

During the prize presentation we were delighted to present our National Championship Gold medal winners with some suitably printed club hoodies as a momento of their win. The club is very proud of the progress all our underage riders have made this year. These guys are the building blocks of the clubs success in the future.

As this was our season finale we’d like to thank all the riders who supported our various events during the year. We couldn’t have put on the the races & TTs without our own club organisers, timekeepers etc and also the members of the other local clubs who were happy to help us when called upon and we apprecitate everyones imput very much. Roll on 2012!

( and finally,    had to post a picture of Bernie Dempsey’s “End of season celebration” cake made for Ryan today. The head was choclate cake, the jersey was caramel cake and it lasted about as long as a 5 mile tt before it diasappeared!! )
