The final event of the summer racing season for the past few years has been the James Butler Memorial, a 5 mile time trial, from Oylegate to Enniscorthy. This years event takes place next Sunday 4th October. The event is open to all classes, and designed for serious and not so serious competitors, and we would love to see new people competing.
The 5 mile event was originally run back in 2002 as part of a series of time trials designed by Eddie Tobin to get competitive cycling back on the roads of County Wexford. It is now 7 years since Eddie’s tragic passing on 6th October 2002 and I’m sure he would be immensely satistified with the huge growth in cycling numbers in the region in the intervening years.
The happy (?) prizewinners!
