Below is a quick snapshot of the proposed new CI Categories.
Category A+
This group will contain all riders who are on UCI registered teams. Any rider which leaves a registered team during the year will revert to an A1 license for the remainder of the season.
It is expected this group will be approximately 10 riders.
Category A1
This group will be made up of the current first 1st Category Senior 1 license holders. From 2010 A1 riders will be required to amass 15 points after first full year of upgrade to remain in the A1 category.
It is expected this group will be approximately 120 riders.
Category A2
This group will be made up of the following riders:
2nd Category riders who have scored points on their license in the last two years
Juniors deemed by the HP team to be elite juniors with the exception of 1st year Juniors
‘Super Vets’, i.e. those who have amassed more than 30 points
Elite Women as deemed by the HP team and Women’s Commission
It is expected this group will be approximately 150.
Current S2 riders who have amassed no ranking points in the last 2 years will be eligible to be downgraded to A3 status. If a S2 rider wishes to stay in this category he can request this to Grading Officer.
Category A3
This group will be made up of the following riders:
Current 3rd cats with CI ranking points
The 2nd cats who have no points in the last 2 years
The vets with points fewer than 30 and juniors
The existing women riders.
It is expected this group will be approximately 250-300
Category A4:
This group will be made up of the following riders:
Current 3rd cats without any CI ranking points
Vets just in it for a bit of fun
New Women riders still finding their feet as deemed by the Women’s Commission
“Underdeveloped” juniors as deemed by the Youth Commission
Club Competition license upgrades
It is expected this group will be approximated 450 riders
It would be recommended that where possible A4 should race on their own, or if needs be with a handicap from the A3 category only.
