Winner Davy Walsh (Slaney) with breakaway companions Declan Kinch 2nd (Slipstream) and Denis McCarthy 3rd (Slipstream) had time to turn around and the watch the finish of the remains of the A3 and A4 bunches in Gorey today. The three strongmen went clear at Craanford on lap 2 and were never in danger of being caught. Davy kicked hard with about 300m to the line and won comfortably. Frank Dunne took 4th from Martin Gill. With a really strong and blustery wind and cold temperatures it was a tough day in the saddle for everyone. Well done to Ger Leacy & Andrew Dowse who finished the full distance with the remains of the A4 bunch on one of those days when its easier to climb off! Also good to see Alex Williams back in racing mode for the past two weeks. Thanks to Sam, Pat, Gary and the Slipstream crew for organising.
Pat Maguire has been in touch to let us know Slipstream will be holding a final training race next Sunday over the Craanford circuit. Sign on is at 10.00am at the Monument, Gorey with race start at 10.30am for 3 laps of the 15mile circuit.
Might suit anyone who doesn’t fancy the drive to Navan on Sunday or was intending to do the now cancelled Dublin Wheelers race on Saturday. Usual cats A1-A4.
