Easter Stage Races

Gorey 3 Day RESULTS:

030410-01   030410-02   030410-03

Disappointment for Alan Galavan at the final stage of the Gorey 3 day where he fell from 4th to 8th overall. With a potential 2nd overall on the cards after overhauling the two riders ahead of him, a steadily loosening cleat in the final 30kms meant he was unable to stand on the pedals and go with the late attacks. Caimin lost contact at the KOH climb but survived to complete his first Gorey 3 Day since riding as a junior in 1987. A tired Daniel was forced to abandon on Sunday.

Rás Mumhan report to follow. Well done to Murt and Alex for completing an epic Rás. Unfortunately Frank was forced to abandon following a crash on stage 3. Slaney CC riding at a new level this year.

Best of luck to the 6 Slaney riders taking on stage races this Easter. This year Alan Galavan, Dan Szczech and Caimin Ruth are representing the club at the Gorey 3 day. Unfortunately Mark Driver has had to pull out following illness. I’ve posted some info on the forum regarding arrangements.

For the first time ever Slaney CC has entered a team in the Kerry Group Rás Mumhan which, along with The Tour of Ulster where we’ll also be represented, is second only to the FBD Rás in terms of difficulty and quality of field. Alex Williams, Frank Dunne and Murt Doyle are heading to Kerry for the 4 day race. Pat Whitney is doing service and will be joined for a some of the stages by Stephen Kelly. They will be joining a fairly elite group of riders – http://bit.ly/ccVH3o   Race Handbook HERE if you want to see race details. Results about an hour after stage finish HERE
