A well attended AGM in the Riverside Park Hotel on Friday night saw the outgoing Committee reinstated for a further 12 months having indicated they were prepared to continue on. Mylie Kavanagh replaced John Butler on the touring committee and a word of thanks to John who was extremely helpful on the Sunday tours and made sure no one was left behind. John was always willing to push a weary cyclist back to base, old stagers and newcomers alike. Alex Williams was appointed Race Captain with Pat Whitney filling the post of Race Secretary.

There was a special thanks to Club sponsors, Nolan Transport and Crescent Seafood, event sponsors Riverside Park Hotel, Ellen Construction and Pool and Spa Services Ltd., Local Sports Partnership, Enniscorthy UDC and to Bellefield GAA Club and 1798 Centre for the use of their facilities throughout the past year. Both Paddy and Liam Ruth, Secretary, reviewed the highlights of 2008, namely the Mount Leinster Challenge, Eddie Tobin Memorial Race, TDF commemoration cycle to Cork which was run in conjuction with UDC’s unveiling of the TDF memorial. Paddy also thanked Marie Whitney for her careful administration of club funds and also Paul Nolan for his handling and storing of the Club gear. On that note Paul has asked that all members use cash or cheques when purchasing club clothing.

Alex finished 8th in the Gorey 3 Day and won both the Comeragh CC and SERC Leagues outright. Murt took the silver medal in the Leinster Championships adding to his success in the Ellen Construction Grand Prix and finished as the highest placed C Cat in the National rankings. Bill Jordan took his 2nd Vets County Championship title and Adam Thatcher took part in his first ever 2 day event.
The Ciaran Power coaching day was a great success on Saturday. Sixteen members from the racing section took part in a 50 mile spin to Rosslare Harbour and back. The underage section joined in from Kitestown and Oylegate and led the group back to Enniscorthy. The afternoon session was very informative and Ciaran took time out to do some one-on-one coaching. He is hoping to come back in January before we head to Lanzarote. A training group are intending to meet in Gorey next Saturday morning. Contact Alex or Murt for times and details.
Finally, the tours are very well attended lately and this is in part thanks to Liam’s winter league table. Today’s results are below.
