Congratulations (commiserations!) to Mick Byrne who was elected Chairman of Slaney CC at our AGM last night.
Mick has set himself a tough agenda for his first year in charge and his campaign promises include
- sorting out the NAMA debacle
- resolving the climate change problem
- peace in the Middle East
- figuring out where exactly Cycling Ireland is going
- and a Slaney CC 1,2,3 in the Gorey 3 Day 2010
(We’ll settle for the Gorey result! ) Seriously we’re all looking forward to working under Mick’s direction in 2010.
- Don’t forget – Sunday Tours will leave at 10.00SHARP from tomorrow for the winter months.

- The Carlow SCC group including Ken Blanche, Alan Galavan, Keith Heery & Willie McDonald have started a winter training group each Saturday and Sunday morning at 9.00am from the Seven Oaks Hotel. There’s about 8 riders heading out at the moment and all SCC members are welcome. We’ll post more details of a SCC Carlow group spin and other organised training groups later.
- If anyone is interested in purchasing either a thermal or windtex jacket this winter can they place an order with Paul Nolan by Thursday next. This will be the last chance for winter gear this year. There is a large supply of club gear in stock at the moment if anyone wants to drop hints for Christmas presents! I’ll try and get a list of club gear in stock uploaded soon.
