Unfortunately Alans lead of just 3 seconds going into the final stage left him a marked man today. With constant attacks during the 90km stage Alan managed to control them all until the final lap. In the end his narrow lead was turned into a 8 secend deficit and 3rd place overall. Never the less this has been a great weekends work for the former rugby player from Carlow and we understand it seals his upgrade to A1 status.

Alan Galavan took a superb TT victory at the Corkman 3 Day this morning (Sunday) giving him a slender 3 second advantage going into this afternoons stage. When I contacted Alan earlier the stage had just ended and as his bunch had caught a dangerous breakway almost on the finish line he was fairly sure he had hung on to the jersey for tomorrows final stage. As usual GC sheets or results from Kanturk seem to be issued on a strict need to know basis so I’ll update if I get any further information. Earlier report from Sticky Bottle HERE
UPDATE: ALAN HOLDS ON TO YELLOW! http://www.stickybottle.com/races-results/full-results-slattery-takes-corkman-third-stage-but-galavan-holds-yellow-in-cliff-hanger/
Delighted that Alan has made this breakthough. Hes being working really hard in A2 for the past few seasons, riding well and just missing out on some big results. If he can hold on for victory this will be his best ever result and has been achieved completely on his own this weekend as he has no Slaney teamates or team car in the race. Fingers crossed!!
