2008/ 2009 Kenny’s for Bikes Winter Touring LeagueThe winter touring league has a new sponsor! Paul Nolan has very generously come on board and offered a fantastic Minoura turbo trainer valued at €170 to the rider who finishes on top of the winter league at the end of February. As its quite likely that several riders will be tied at the top the club will also throw in some extra prizes which can be drawn at the league end. In addition, as the league idea has proven quite popular, the club plan to continue with a summer league commencing in March. Many thanks to Paul at Kenny’s for Bikes, Enniscorthy for this great initiative. Don’t forget Paul has the full range of Slaney CC winter gear in stock now including Thermal or Windtex jackets and bib tights.Its never to late to start coming out and all are welcome. The league positions will also change quite a bit after Christmas as the guys with early season racing goals plan more specific sessions for Sundays. As Ciaran Power said last week the idea in November and December is to get in some steady miles at a low heart rate and the spins are not about speed.It would be appreciated if club members could assemble from 9.45am on Sunday mornings so we can leave the Duffry at 10.00am sharp. We want to make the most of the spin and ensure no one is left standing around in the cold for too long. If you are going to be late ring one of the tour captains before 10.00am to see what direction the group is heading and we’ll try to accomodate you if possible.The final points scoring tour of 2008 will take place on 21st December, with a break over Christmas and will resume on January 4th. With the first open race of the new season on 1st March 2009 (Cycleways Cup, Navan) the winter league will finish on Sunday February 22nd giving another 8 counting Sundays in 2009.
